Webinar: Supply shocks and manufacturing disruptions in the Veg Oil market – How do manufacturers avoid food fraud and quality problems?

There have been many recent disruptions within the Vegetable Oil market. The war between Ukraine and Russia has resulted in Sunflower Oil becoming more costly and difficult to obtain. This has led to industry players looking to alternative oils - a task which was made more complicated by the banning of Palm Oil exports from Indonesia. This has proven to remain challenging, despite the ban now being reversed.

The disturbances within these supply chains and others have resulted in increased levels of food fraud due to industry players. Some market participants are said to be ‘cutting corners’ when buying and selling oils which has allowed fraudulent or lesser quality oils to enter the supply chain. It is vital for manufacturers to know about the economic impacts and monitor Vegetable Oil supplies, so they know that their supply chain is reliable, and that they are not unknowingly victims of food fraud.

To aid the industry, Mintec will be hosting a free joint webinar with FoodChain ID where data and analysis on Vegetable Oil fraud, contamination problems, and trends within the market will all be discussed. Kyle Holland and Roxanne Nikoro will present from Mintec, alongside Susanne Kuehne, Senior Sales Engineer from FoodChain ID.
