Mintec to launch new Palm Oil Mintec Benchmark Prices

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has decided to launch new daily Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for Malaysian Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD). The publication of the new assessment will be effective from Wednesday 1st February,  2023. 

The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on 13th December 2022 and can be viewed here.  

The  Mintec Code of the new assessment will be MPFD for Malaysian PFAD and customers can access this through the Mintec Analytics platform.  

The proposed specification for this assessment would be as below: 

The proposed assessment would reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.  
 
The increasing global supply of palm oil has led to a higher availability of PFAD residue available for various uses, including use as a renewable raw material in the production of biofuels. PFAD is also used for animal feed as well as in the oleochemical industry. The launch of this assessment would give users greater clarity in understanding price movements.
