Mintec to launch two new German pork shoulder assessments

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has decided to launch two new weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices for two grades of German pork shoulder. These new assessments will begin publication effective 23 November 2021.

The proposal was initially announced in a market note published on 25 October which can be found here.

The specifications for the new assessments are as below:

The assessments will reflect the transactable value at 16:00 London time for the prices of a full containerload of pork shoulder on a per kilogram basis.

The assessments will provide additional pricing information and transparency for the German pork market, one that is opaque and which has been historically underserved, providing Mintec clients with a set of objective and independent price benchmarks for one of Europe's largest pork producing countries, as well as to complement Mintec’s existing coverage of other grades of pork shoulder.
