Mintec to launch Romanian Feed Barley Mintec Benchmark Prices

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has decided to launch a monthly Mintec Benchmark Price (MBP) for Romanian Feed Barley. The assessment will begin publication effective from Friday, 21st April 2023. The initial proposal was communicated in a market note which can be found here.

The new assessment will reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.

Romania is becoming an increasingly important producer and exporter of grains, especially to the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, as well as to other EU countries. It also qualifies as one of the Black Sea origins for grains, while having the advantage of being a member of the EU. Romania is the 9th biggest exporter of feed barley. Therefore, the Romanian barley assessment will provide an independent reference point for the industry.
