Mintec proposes to launch South African Raisin Mintec Benchmark Prices

Mintec is proposing to launch 8 weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices for South African Thompson seedless and Flame raisin varieties. Mintec is collecting feedback on this proposal from any market participants until Wednesday, 15 March 2023. Mintec is proposing to launch these assessments, if supported by the industry, on Thursday 30th March, 2023. 

 The proposed specifications for these assessments would be: 
 
The proposed assessments would reflect the transactable value at 16:00 London time. 
 
South Africa is a major exporter of dried grapes and the proposed assessments would provide increased transparency and an independent benchmark for market participants in the dried fruit markets. Additionally, these assessments would complement Mintec’s existing dried grape coverage and allow for Mintec customers to compare costs between the major exporting regions, including Turkey and the US.
