Mintec launches Egyptian IQF Strawberry Mintec Benchmark Prices

Mintec has launched 7 monthly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for Egyptian Origin IQF Strawberries, effective Friday 31st March 2023. 

The initial proposal to launch this assessment was published in a market note published on 1st March 2023 and can be found here and the decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on 16th March 2023 which can be found here.

The specifications for these assessments are:  

Assessments for Egyptian FOB & European delivered prices reflect the transactable value on the last business day of each month at 16:00:00 London time.

Assessments delivered to the East Coast of the US reflect the transactable value on the last business day of each month at 16:00:00 US Eastern Time.

Egypt is a major exporter of IQF strawberries supplying large volumes to both the US & Europe. The assessments provide market participants an independent price benchmark for Egyptian strawberries in what is traditionally a very opaque market. Additionally, the inclusion of delivered prices into the United States complements Mintec’s existing North American IQF strawberry offering and allows for price comparisons between different supply origins.
