February 28, 2020

1 mins read

The recent six-month average price (Sep 19-Feb 20) of Brazilian orange juice dropped by 4% compared to the previous six-month average (Mar-Aug19), driven by higher production and end stocks in 2018/19. Brazil’s 2019/20 orange juice production is estimated at 992,000 tonnes, a 25% decline y-o-y after poor growing conditions reduced the country’s orange output.

Furthermore, the average price of US orange juice declined by 6% over the recent six months (Sep 19-Feb 20) compared to the previous six months, due to increased production in Florida in 2018/19. The major share of Florida’s orange production goes for processing. The US is estimated to produce 330,000 tonnes of orange juice in 2019/20, a small increase on last year as growers enjoy favourable weather conditions.

From economical to political, all the factors impacting the orange juice market have been analysed to provide a market outlook for the next six months. Mintec’s market outlooks (schedule) provide insights on factors shaping the market dynamics of various commodities, providing the opportunity for market participants to stay ahead of factors that will impact procurement decisions.
