The current average EU price (May-July 19) rose 2% against the last average (February-April 19), in accordance with previous Mintec forecasts. As the summer season approached in May, consumer demand for the chicken was stimulated, causing higher purchasing activity for chicken grilling pieces, picking up prices. The current average US chicken price (May-July) rose 5% against the previous average chicken price (February-April) in line with increased domestic demand for the summer season

EU chicken production is estimated to reach a total of 12.46m tonnes in 2019, up 2.3% y-o-y. This total would take 2019 production 9% above the five-year average. The total US chicken production for 2019 has been revised down against previous predictions by 0.8%.
