Mintec’s average price of Polish apples plummeted by 57% in the past six-months (Jan-Jun 19) compared to the previous six-month average (Jul-Dec 18) due to Poland’s 2018/19 record crop. However, the m-o-m price has been showing an upward movement (18%) due to expectations of a large crop loss (20-25%) in Poland, following May’s frost. Similarly, Mintec’s average price of EU apple juice in the last six-months dropped by 4%, compared to the previous six-month average due to a large number of apples available for processing till the start of the 2019/20 season. Apple stocks for processing are at their highest, following a bumper production in Poland.
The average six month price of Chinese apple increased by 22% compared to that of the previous six months. China’s 2018/19 apple crop was hit by severe frost, which cut the production by 35% y-o-y, resulting in higher than average prices.
