Market participants surveyed by Mintec in the first week of April were expecting strong shipments ahead of the March position report, which is due for release on 11th April. Estimates for March almond shipments were reported in the range of 240-270 million pounds, with most market participants returning figures of 245-255 million pounds.
If realised, a figure of 250 billion pounds would be the second highest shipment figure for March and only 6% below the previous record of 267 million pounds in March 2021.
“I’m expecting to see a strong shipment number, but low commitments in the position report. Everyone was sitting on the side-lines during the rally in March, so not much volume got done,” a US exporter said to Mintec.
