Brazil was the fourth largest pork exporter in 2022, with a total of 1.3 million MT of pork meat exported.  Brazilian pork exports continue to flourish in 2023; during the first half of the year, revenue from exports reached $1.413 billion, 26.7% higher than the result registered between January and June 2022, which was $1.115 billion. China remains the main importer of Brazilian pork, with 214.4 thousand tonnes imported in the first half (17.1% above last year), followed by Hong Kong, with 61.1 thousand tonnes (+21.6 %), the Philippines, with 50.9 thousand tonnes (+21.8%) and Chile, with 41.3 thousand tonnes (+78%).

Brazil, as well as other key exporters such as the US and Canada, have benefited from high EU price levels; the tight supply of pork meat pushed EU price levels markedly above the price levels of other international exporters. As tight supply is expected to further impact EU pork prices during H2, other international exporters are anticipated to grow their market share further.
