Mintec to launch eleven new outright physical coffee price assessments

All Market Notes 06 December 2021

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has decided to launch eleven new weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices assessments for different varieties of coffee as outright prices. These assessments will begin publication effective 23 December 2021.

The proposal was initially announced in a market note published on 17 November which can be found here

The assessments, including their specifications, are:

The assessments will reflect the transactable value at 16:00 London time for the prices of a full 20’ container load of coffee of each variety and origin listed above on an outright basis for delivery against the second futures month of Arabica (ICE New York) or Robusta (ICE London).

The assessments will aid users in being able to compare outright prices directly with quotes heard in the market as well as track the total evolution of the bean cost on an FOB basis without the use of differentials. This brings considerably more transparency to the coffee industry with regards to physical pricing which has historically been a very opaque market.

Please send any questions or comments about this market note to Methodology@mintecglobal.com by Friday, 3 December, and clearly state which market note your comments relate to, and if comments are intended for publication by Mintec.

Mintec will acknowledge receipt of all comments by email.
