Mintec to discontinue Cocoa Powder EXW Netherlands (MBP) [COPF] series

Mintec will discontinue the Mintec Benchmark Price for Cocoa Powder EXW Netherlands (COPF), effective 14 April 2021.

The discontinuation was first proposed in a market note published on 11 February 2021. Mintec did not receive any opposing feedback to the proposed change during the consultation period.

Mintec is discontinuing this assessment because from 22 March onwards there will be two identical series in the system with Mintec Benchmark Prices for Cocoa Powder EXW Western Europe [COPL] being the perfect substitute to this discontinued series. This is because Mintec is undergoing a methodology change regarding the native currency behind the related series COPL, which will be changing from GBP to EUR on 22 March as per this market note. Therefore, by the time COPF is discontinued on 14 April it will be identical to COPL which is currently assessed in EUR. As COPL has a price history dating back to 1986, whereas COPF was launched only in 2020, COPL is perfectly positioned as an alternative to the current COPF series.

Publishing one series instead of two identical series will result in a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.
