Mintec proposes to launch Soybean Oil FOB Paraguay Mintec Benchmark Prices

Mintec is proposing to launch weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for Soybean Oil FOB Paraguay and is collecting feedback from market participants in the vegetable oils markets until Monday 11 September 2023.

Mintec is proposing to launch these assessments, if supported by the industry, on Tuesday 26 September 2023.

The proposed specification for this assessment would be as below:

The proposed assessment would reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.

Soybean oil is one of the most widely used vegetable oils globally, used in both food and as feedstock for biodiesel, with Paraguay being one of the major South American producers. The proposed assessment would complement Mintec’s existing soybean oil coverage and provide additional granularity of comparison between major exporting origins.
