Mintec proposes to launch new Romanian Feed Barley Mintec Benchmark Prices

Mintec is proposing to launch new monthly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for Romanian feed barley and is collecting feedback from market participants in the grains markets until Friday, 31st March 2023.

If the industry supports this proposal, Mintec suggests launching this assessment on Friday, 21st April 2023.

The proposed specification for this assessment would be as below:

The proposed assessment would reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time. 

Romania is becoming an increasingly important producer and exporter of grains, especially to the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, as well as to other EU countries. It also qualifies as one of the Black Sea origins for grains, while having the advantage of being a member of the EU. Romania is the 9th biggest exporter of feed barley. Therefore, the new Romanian barley assessment will provide an independent reference point for the industry.
