Mintec proposes to launch French Milling Wheat Mintec Benchmark Prices

Mintec is proposing to launch weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for French milling wheat 11.5% protein and is collecting feedback from market participants in the grains markets until Friday, 25th August 2023. Mintec is proposing to launch this assessment, if supported by the industry, on Friday 15th September 2023.

The proposed specification for this assessment would be as below:

The proposed assessment would reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.

France is the largest wheat producer in the European union and plays a vital role in supplying wheat to the global market. The proposed assessment would provide Mintec subscribers with an independent benchmark for the most commonly traded grade of French milling wheat. Furthermore, the proposed assessment would complement Mintec’s existing European wheat coverage and allow for Mintec subscribers to compare prices between France and other major exporters on an FOB basis.
