Mintec launches US Soybean Meal Mintec Benchmark Prices

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has launched weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for Soybean meal FOB US Gulf. 

The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on 25th August 2023 which can be found here. The decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on 12th September 2023, which can be found here.  

The specification for this assessment is as below:    

The assessment reflects the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.   

Soybean meal is commonly used as a protein source in animal feed and the US is a major producer and exporter. The assessment complements Mintec’s existing soybean meal coverage and allows for additional granularity of comparison between major exporting origins.
