Mintec launches Romanian Feed Barley Mintec Benchmark Prices

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has launched monthly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for Romanian Feed Barley, effective from Friday, 21st April 2023. 

The initial proposal to launch this assessment was announced in a market note published on 17th March 2023 which can be found here. The decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on 3rd April 2023, which can be found here.

The assessment reflects the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.

Romania is becoming an increasingly important producer and exporter of grains, especially to the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, as well as to other EU countries. It also qualifies as one of the Black Sea origins for grains, while having the advantage of being a member of the EU. Romania is the 9th biggest exporter of feed barley. Therefore, the Romanian barley assessment provides an independent reference point for the industry.
