Mintec launches monthly Mintec Benchmark Prices for US IQF Fruits

Mintec has launched additional IQF Strawberry monthly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) along with IQF Mango, IQF Banana, and IQF Pineapple MBP assessments effective Thursday, August 31st, 2023.

The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on July 21st, 2023, and can be viewed here. The decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on August 14th, 2023, and can be found here.

Additionally, market feedback solicited during the proposal feedback period indicated a needed clarification for the IQF strawberry series FOB California. To clarify, these series include product originating anywhere in South or North America. Changes to the specifications can be found in bold in the table below.

The new assessments reflect the transactable value on the last business day of each month at 16:00:00 US Eastern time.

 These Mintec Benchmark Prices address the lack of transparency in the US frozen and processed fruit industry as US frozen fruit sales reached $1.5 billion in 2021/22. These MBP will aid industry participants to reliably, and independently, benchmark their transactions for the first time.
