Mintec launches German Wheat Bran Benchmark Prices

All Market Notes 30 June 2023

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has launched weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for German wheat bran, effective from Friday, 30th June 2023.

The initial proposal to launch this assessment was announced in a market note published on 1st June 2023 which can be found here. The decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on 16th June 2023, which can be found here.

The full specification for the assessment is as below:

The assessment reflects the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.

Wheat bran, a by-product of the dry milling of common wheat into flour, is one of the major agro-industrial by-products used in animal feed. It contains much of the vitamins and protein of the wheat grain and thus is suitable for livestock feeding and very palatable to most classes of animals (pigs, poultry, cattle, sheep and horses). The launch of the wheat bran assessment provides transparency in a market which is currently very opaque and lacks independent and impartial price benchmarks.
