Mintec launches EU Chicken Compound Feed Index Mintec Benchmark Prices

Following a period of market feedback, Mintec has launched weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices (MBP) for the EU Chicken Compound Feed Index. 

The initial proposal to launch this assessment was announced in a market note published on 31st August 2023 which can be found here. The decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on 15th September 2023, which can be found here. 

The full specification for the assessment is as below: 

The assessment reflects the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time. 

The index assessment uses a basket of underlying Mintec Benchmark Prices, based on a typical blend for chicken feed production, to provide a reference price for the raw material cost of compound feed. 

The weightings are as follows 50% feed corn, 30% feed soymeal, 10% feed wheat, and 10% feed rapeseed meal. 

The assessment is rounded to the nearest Euro cent using the rule that decimals of four (4) or less round down, and decimals of five (5) or above round up, e.g. €1.744 will be rounded to €1.74, and €1.755 will be rounded to €1.76.
