Mintec has launched a new European dairy Mintec Benchmark Prices for Skimmed Milk Concentrate

Mintec has launched new weekly Mintec Benchmark Prices assessments for European Skimmed Milk Concentrate, effective Thursday 26 May 2022. The initial proposal to launch this assessment was announced in a market note published on 13 April which can be found here and the decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on 9 May which can be found here.

The assessment reflects the transactable value at 15:59:59 UK time for the prices of the above-mentioned product.

The Skimmed Milk Concentrate market is vital to the dairy industry as it is a leading indicator for Skimmed Milk Powder. There are currently very few reference prices for this product, therefore this MBP lends additional price transparency to market participants who trade not only in SMC but also SMP (Skimmed Milk Powder). Prices and availability of SMC also act as an indicator to give clarity on how much SMP and butter are being produced at any given time when market conditions favour the production of those products over cheese and whey.
